A busy Spring in full swing!

Monday 9th May 2011 9:24 AM

Hello everyone, well spring is now in full swing and I am sure you will agree we are being spoilt with the beautiful weather we have had! Long may it continue!

Thins are typically busy here at the farm as over spring and summer its a race to get all the jobs that need doing out of the way so that everything is done in time for the weather closing in at wintertime!

We have been very busy having lots of fencing done on the fields which needed to be done in time for the horses going out onto the spring/summer grazing. It has been manic but is almost finished now. There is just phase 3 to be completed in 6 weeks time and then we have finally completed the fencing!

It all looks fantastic though and a big thank you to Adrian Leach who always does a great job with our fencing!

Now we are about to start with a big concreating job and also we are slowly and finally about to begin the house!

I will keep you posted with progress!

Now for the animal news!

Well the piglets have all now gone to their new homes, we just have Jemima pig whom is growing bigger each day that we are keeping with us now as we could not bear to let her go, and we still have our entire boar piglet Paddington who is Te Wangi/ Kereopa lines and very handsome! He is fully registered on the breeding register and fit and ready to go on to a good breeding home. If you are interested in purchasing Paddington please contact the farm to discuss!

Mif pig is now ready to pop and in her last stages of pregnancy, in fact her last two weeks!. We are very excited to finally meet her piglets or should we say Miflets soon! I will keep you updated with her progress!

The horses have finally gone onto the beautiful spring grass and are very much enjoying their turnout, we are also all enjoying some lovely long hacks in the sun. We have found some long new rides and are really enjoying lots of exploring!

The kids are back to pony club and are also enjoying lots of outings such as the Craven Country Ride Cross Country where the had a fantastic time testing their jumping skills!

We are hoping to have a trip to the beach very soon and a good gallop across the sands! I will keep you updated!

The swallows that come every year to the farm to have their young have arrived back safely and its been a joy to see them swooping round the yard! I stole a sneaky picture- look very closely and you can see!

Ozzy Dog our beautiful KC registered Miniature Schnauzer dog at stud has been welcoming his first bitches to the farm- we are expecting his first puppies any day now and can't wait to hear the news of them and to take a picture! If you are interested in using Ozzy please contact us.

Some sad news is that we recently lost our beautiful feral cat Toby whom in the end was the most tame and cuddly cat you could wish for! We took him to the vets as soon as we realised that he was ill, however internally something had been going on for a very long time! There was no option but to put him to sleep. I was with my beautiful cat to the end, sobbed like a baby and am going to miss him terribly. I brought him home and we buried him at the farm so he will always be at home here with us!

Our Onsite grooming salon really is exceeding all our expectations and we have been very busy, we love meeting all our new canine friends and also welcoming back others, its just such a great job and we feel very lucky to have the salon!. I take great pride in my work and all the dogs leave feeling very dapper- if we do say so ourselves! To book and appointment either contact us via the web site or by phone on 07891374894. Please book as early as you can as we do fill quickly!

Remember we also offer Home Boarding for your dog and Doggie Day care at the farm too, with discounts for regular customers of the grooming salon, again please book early to avoid disappointment!

Untill the next time....
